It’s no surprise, then, that Sneek, the water sports capital of this Dutch province, has a shipbuilding tradition that spans centuries. At Aquanaut, that same legacy lives on. Since 1961, our name has stood for pure Dutch craftsmanship, proudly rooted in Sneek!

rich history
In 1961, brothers Johan and Wim Bakker from Sneek turned their dream into reality: to build, refit and maintain first-class motor yachts ranging from 11 to 15 metres. Their skill and ambition soon attracted leading designers such as Dick Boon and Willem Nieland, with whom they developed classic, robust models defined by craftsmanship and strength.
From the refined interiors to the bold exteriors, from exceptional handling to dedicated service, every detail has contributed to Aquanaut’s outstanding international reputation.
Right from the start, hull construction has taken place 30 kilometres away in Langelille, at De Driesprong, the yard of Henk Stekelenburg. That spirit of close collaboration still runs deep. Today, Mark Bakker represents the second generation, while Stekelenburg’s grandson, Frans de Vries, now stands at the helm of Aquanaut. As captain, he continues to chart the Bakker family course, backed by his uncle, Henk Jr., Aquanaut’s new lead designer.
